Hourverse

For iPhone · Lock Screen & Home Screen widgets

A verse for every hour.

Hourverse keeps one verse of Scripture on your Lock Screen and Home Screen, and a new one arrives every hour: hope in the morning, strength at midday, rest at night.

Coming to theApp Store this Advent

Free to download. No account needed.

Illustration of the Lock Screen widget. Verse text shown exactly as in the BSB.

Only Scripture.

Exact Berean Standard Bible text. No quotes from people, no AI.

Every verse appears word for word as the Berean Standard Bible publishes it. Nothing is paraphrased, summarized, or generated. The verses come from a curated list of about 400 that stand well on their own, so a glance at your phone is enough.

How it works

  1. Get the app

Download Hourverse on your iPhone. There's no account to make and nothing to sign in to.

  2. Add the widget

The app walks you through adding it to your Lock Screen, Home Screen, or both. It takes about a minute.

  3. Glance and go

Each hour brings a new verse chosen for that time of day. You don't even have to open the app.

Shaped around your day

Verses are sorted by time of day. Here are four from the list:

  • Morning

They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!

    Lamentations 3:23

  • Midday

He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.

    Isaiah 40:29

  • Evening

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

    Matthew 11:28

  • Night

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

    Psalm 4:8

On the Home Screen, the widget sits on warm paper with a serif type made for reading. It follows your iPhone's light or dark appearance.

Quiet by design

  • No account, no ads, and no selling of data.
  • The Bible text is built into the app, so verses show up even when you're offline.
  • We count a few anonymous setup steps so we can make widget setup easier. Nothing identifies you.
